Hanguly ("we", "our", "us") operates the Hanguly website at hanguly.com and the Hanguly mobile application (together, the "Service"). This policy explains what data we collect, why, and how we protect it.

1. Data We Collect

Account data: When you create an account, we collect your email address, display name, and an optional username. If you sign in with Apple, we receive only the identifiers Apple provides.

Learning progress: Your vocabulary mastery, streak data, XP, and achievements are stored in your account so they sync across devices.

AI Tutor conversations: Messages you send to the AI Tutor (Yuna/Mimi) are forwarded to our AI provider (Groq) to generate responses. We do not store conversation history on our servers after the session ends.

Subscription data: If you subscribe to Hanguly Pro, payment is processed by Apple (via the App Store) or Stripe (on the web). We receive confirmation of your subscription status but never see or store your payment card details.

2. How We Use Your Data

• To provide and personalise the learning experience
• To sync your progress across devices
• To process and manage your subscription
• To generate AI tutor responses
• To send you important account notifications (e.g. password reset)

3. Third-Party Services

We use the following third-party services:

• Supabase — authentication and database (hosted in the EU)
• RevenueCat — mobile subscription management
• Stripe — web payment processing
• Groq — AI language model for the tutor feature
• Apple — Sign in with Apple and App Store payments

Each service processes data in accordance with their own privacy policies. We do not sell your data to any third party.

4. Data Storage & Security

Your account data is stored securely on Supabase with row-level security policies. On the web version, learning data is also cached locally in your browser. All data is transmitted over HTTPS.

5. Data Retention

We retain your account data for as long as your account is active. AI tutor conversations are not persisted after the session. You can delete your account at any time from the app settings, which permanently removes all your data from our servers.

6. Your Rights

You have the right to:

• Access the personal data we hold about you
• Correct inaccurate data
• Delete your account and all associated data
• Export your data
• Withdraw consent at any time

7. Children's Privacy

Hanguly is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, please contact us and we will delete it.

8. Cookies

The Hanguly website does not use cookies for tracking or advertising. We only use essential browser storage (localStorage) to save your learning progress and session.

9. Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy from time to time. The "last updated" date at the top will reflect any changes. Continued use of the Service after changes constitutes acceptance.
